The destination for TotalSim‘s team building this year was Southampton, more specifically the Port Hamble Marina for an all round nautical themed event.
Arriving on Friday afternoon, everyone was soon on board a couple of RIBs for a high speed ‘treasure hunt’ around the Solent. The two boats were both given a set of questions and clues and had to direct their driver to various locations to gather answers, with extra marks going for particular attention to detail!
The team then enjoyed a few drinks in the pub before having dinner at the marina, fueling up for the next day’s activities.
Having been split into three teams (Red, Yellow and Blue) TotalSim then set sail early on Saturday morning on three yachts to once again venture out into the Solent, although this time hoping to use a bit of wind power. With a bit of sailing knowledge between the teams, the three boats spent the morning getting to grips with the boats and learning the sailing basics.
Rob also got his fishing rod out but didn’t manage to catch a fish, despite trying for the whole day!
After a spot of lunch on board at Portsmouth Harbour (and a bit of battleship spotting) the boats turned around and started to head back to the marina. Once back out into the Solent the teams decided on a race. The race was ended early at 3pm due to lack of wind with the Red team crowned victors, and the Blue team losing by default for turning their engine on shortly before the agreed cut-off time when they held a narrow lead over the Yellow team.
Everyone then headed home for some much needed rest after a great weekend teambuilding.
Time to start planning teambuiding 2015!
